Smith + Andersen

We are an engineering consulting firm that specializes in the sustainable design of building services (mechanical and electrical). Our mechanical division designs plumbing, HVAC and sprinkler systems, while our electrical division designs distribution, lighting, data communications, audio/visual, security and life safety systems. Our staff consists of professional engineers, designers, CAD operators, construction administrators, and administration. Our primary role is to prepare contract documents (typically drawings and specifications) that are given to contractors to bid (price). We work with clients on new buildings or renovations in the retail/commercial, multi-family residential, institutional, and government sectors. Engineer-in-Training:

Our future success depends on developing the skills and abilities of our young talent. FortisBC’s Engineer-in-Training program helps recent engineering graduates gain practical experience through exposure to a variety of development opportunities in our natural gas and electricity businesses. The Engineer-in-Training program is designed to help you build connections and develop a technical, operational and financial understanding of our business through a series of rotational placements. These will help you complete your experience requirements to register as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC).
